The TYPE 21 and TYPE 23 chronograph watch shows the time with resolution of 1/5th of a second and measures successive or single time intervals between 0 and 30 minutes thanks to its totalizer and, beyond this limit, with the help of its rotating bezel or the third hour totalizer.

The date is displayed in a window at 4 o’clock

The Wrist watch TYPE 21 and TYPE 23 are equipped with a special mechanism called «Flyback», «retour en vol»
or «taylor».

The Flyback function allows it to be instantly reset during the
chronograph’s operation by pressing the lower push button,
without having to first stop the operation with the higher push
button. When pressure is maintained on the second button, the
hand stays at zero and only starts again when pressure is released.
The fly-back device enables an aircraft pilot or ship’s captain to follow instructions and change headings according to a predefined course.

Once a sequence has elapsed, a pressure on the button launches the following sequence.

The Flyback function assists precision of the timing function with respect to imposed time constraints during operational missions or by air traffic control.

Once a sequence has elapsed, a pressure on the button launches the following sequence.

The Flyback function allows it to be instantly reset during the chronograph’s operation by pressing the lower push button [B] without having to first stop the operation with the higher push button[A].

The rotating bezel tops off the minute totalizers by acting as the hourly countdown.

For a 4-hour flight, the pilot puts the number «4» aligned with the hour hand
on the main dial, and starts the chronograph :
when the hour hand is aligned with the luminous «0» mark, the four hours are up.

The bezel is primarily a visual prompt to avoid having to memorize a sequence start time by measuring
the time left until an occurrence.

The rotating bezel can also serve as a time marker using the minutes, hours or seconds (it can indicate the arrival point for the next turn, for example).

The bezel provides the pilot with the dual-possibility of gauging the elapsed time with the chronograph totalizer and the remaining time with the bezel, enabling adaptation to any aviation situation. The rotating bezel with incresaing figures 12 hours can also be used as a second time zone.
